Name: Terra Branford
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Canon: Final Fantasy VI
Canon Point: Beginning of game when the mind control tiara is still on.
History: Terra Branford Wiki
Personality:
Terra has lost her memories, so at first she will be lost, fearful and confused. The things she remembers are dark and negative. She is a child of war. Her world doesn't look kindly on magic and she is in part a magical being. These truths leave her suspicious and paranoid, not wanting to trust those who want to help her and being closed off from others. She is out of place in her world and the biggest examples of this are the reactions she has to her memory loss. It is seen at the beginning of the game when she is first saved by Arvis and then again by Locke. Her eventual trust in Locke stems from the long journey they embark on and isn't gained easily. Her distrust and paranoia can also be seen a few scenes later when she uses magic in combat. She kept it from everyone until that dire moment because of how it would make them see her. Throughout the beginning of the game she is also quiet and reserved, saying very little about herself.
It will take time but Terra will learn more about herself as the effects of the mind control device fade. As that happens her true personality begins to shine through.
Terra is a strong person, determined and assertive when she needs to be. Even with her disturbing memories and dark past she is determined to right those wrongs and face the man responsible for them. Every action she takes carries these three traits. She wants to use her powers to make the world a better place. She does this by deciding to help the Returners, a rebel group that opposes the Empire. It is a bold move on her part and it risks her becoming a target because the Empire considers her a dangerous threat. She also risks being ostracized by the Returners once they learn that she might not be human; even so, she takes this risk to help others.
She is at times unsure of herself and she often over thinks things; this is seen as her memories return and she begins to question things about herself. Terra worries that she cannot feel love and goes to her friends to ask about their own emotions. She approaches Leo saying, "But... I don't even know what it feels like to love someone." Terra has never felt love and she doesn't know what it could possibly feel like. The emotions she is familiar with are negative and due to this question a constant battle rages inside of her mind, momentarily, causing her to lose the will to fight.
Terra is gentle and kind with an affinity for moogles and small children. She wants to protect the innocence of the world since it is something she has never experienced herself. This is best seen at the end of the game. Terra is given the choice to become human if there is something that she loves attaching her to the world; She doesn't think she knows what love is but it is her love for the children of Mobliz that lets her become human.
Terra is scared of her own powers and doesn't think herself as human. Without the weight of her powers she will feel more confident in her abilities. During the game Terra loses control of her powers which is when it is revealed how scared she truly is. It isn't until she talks with her father that she finally comes to terms with what she is and begins to control her transformation. It is after this time that you see her become more confident in herself now that her control and identity is no longer weighting on her mind.
Third-Person Sample:
She remembered falling and then dreaming. She sat alone as Kefka placed the metal circlet around her forehead, his haunting laughter echoing in her ear. The scene slowly faded to black but she could still hear his laughter.
Fire rose in her mind as the city burned around her, her attacks destroying the soldiers and city as he commanded her to burn everything to the ground. The Empire wanted to destroy everything and she was their tool to do so.
Terra wanted to cry out at these dark dreams but she couldn't speak. Was this a dream or a memory?
A light shined through her nightmares cutting away at her haunting memories. A crystal shined before her and she heard a warm voice echo from the darkness. It was comforting and so she let that voice carry her away.
"Hey! Kupo!" A moogle floated over head holding the circlet in its little paws. "Wake up, kupo!"
Terra's eyes fluttered open while her hand reached for her head. "Who are you?" She didn't want to stand, it hurt so much.
"I'm Tempest, kupo! You're a Hero of Light."
She looked up at the moogle and felt her heart jump into her throat. He was so cute but one sentence echoed through her mind.
I am no hero.
Mognet Sample:
To those it may concern,
Hello.
Tempest told me to write to others and that it might help me. I have lost my memories and I don't know what to do to get them back. If anyone has experience with this I hope you know of a way.
